Summary/Abstract: The first Kalmyks who settled in Serbia came in April of 1920, most probably following the general Wrangell. In the next years, this number constantly raised up to the level of some 500 people, mostly in Belgrade. They have built a Buddhist temple in this city in 1929, which was partially destroyed in battle for Belgrade in 1944. After the Kalmyks left the Belgrade, fleeing again from the Red Army and communist ideology, new authorities judged that the temple became useless without both the relics and believers, so the purpose of the building transmogrified.
