Summary/Abstract: Alexandru Plămădeală was, without a doubt, the most known and appreciated sculptor from interwar Bessarabia, his works being known not only in the artistic area of Romania, but also in the West. However, we know little about the life and activity of the sculptor’s wife – Olga Plămădeală (Suceveanu) (1896–1990). Married in 1923, Olga Plămădeală becomes an unconditional support for her husband. He studied for a time at the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest (1922–1923) abandoning his courses after marriage and dedicating his life and activity to the sculptor and to all the manifestations in which he was involved. He worked as secretary of the Society of Fine Arts in Bessarabia and was an indispensable chronicler of interwar artistic events. Even after the death of her husband in 1940, Olga Plămădeală published several monographs about his life and creation, these being important sources in the research of interwar Bessarabian art. Therefore, this article is an attempt to shed light on an part of the biography of the distinguished Lady, due to which the works of the sculptor have been preserved.
