Summary/Abstract: The author looks for the answers to the two questions he asks in the very beginning. The first one: Can we find a satisfying explanation of the reasons of Socrates’ accusation and conviction? The second one: What lesson does this event teach us? Trying to explain the reasons of Socrates’ accusation the author underlines that he was perceived as danger because he questioned the rules of traditional devoutness and claimed to be a particularly important person. Searching for an answer to the second question the author comes to the conclusion that there is an insoluble conflict between morality, religiousness and conscience on the one hand and politics and community’s expectations on the other
