Summary/Abstract: Towards whom do we have obligations? Whom do we owe sacrifice? The author asks these two questions at the very beginning of his article. The motif of sacrifice is a significant element of many religions, including the eastern ones. Kanofsky analyses Abraham’s sacrifice from many different points of view. He uses various interpretations for this purpose, beginning with Classics, then going on through rabbinic literature and pieces on ethics, up to the modern works discussing this topic in the context of the Holocaust.
