Summary/Abstract: In his essay, Gergely Frumen approaches József Nagy’s 2018 performance Mnémosyne from the perspective of the mechanisms of memory: through the intertwined dynamics of the personal and the universal, which fundamentally determine the production. But what is the connection between the frog carcasses, or the so-called frog plates, and the photos of them and the butoh dance? According to Frumen, they are linked by the freezing and slowing down of the moment, blending the living and the inanimate in memory.
