Summary/Abstract: Eszter Kovács reflects on the innovative, experimental quarantine performance of the Csiky Gergely Hungarian State Theatre in Timișoara, at the intersection of theatre and film, presence and virtuality, classical authors and contemporary problems. Directed by Adrian Sitaru, The Man Who Could Only Say What He Read escapes the clichés of theatre recordings and, by bringing new media possibilities into play, appears as a hybrid genre on the Romanian theatre scene. In her critique, the author also discusses the experience of the spectator, the changing modes of reception and the socio-historical issues raised by the production.
