Summary/Abstract: The article concerns the roots of Europe. It proposes a thesis saying that both religious and secular culture of Europe is not original. Brague calls it imitation. According to him Europe’s Christian roots take their origin in Judeo-Christianity. The latter again emerged from Judaism with which Jesus, the Apostles and the first Christians came into contact. Also in the aspect of culture our roots go back to the ancient Romans and earlier – to the ancient Greeks. The author claims that it was their culture that we Europeans got to acknowledge as the greatest one and the most worthy to follow.
