Summary/Abstract: In this article, it will be explored transformation of a readymade object to an art object on the basis of works of the artists who dealt the concept of time by using “clock” as a readymade object. Within the scope of the article, it will be discussed the transformation of clock and the concept of time from Marcel Duchamp to conceptual art and the present, and will be focused on how clock as a readymade object was represented as well as what it represented with social and cultural signs. Using qualitative research methods with exhibition and artwork reviews, interviews and literature review, the article will try to show how a readymade object was transformed into an art object by focusing on the works by Joseph Kosuth, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Cengiz Çekil and Gülçin Aksoy.
