Summary/Abstract: The essay focuses on the examination of the child or adolescent presence in the Italian adult fiction. Using text analysis it shows the role that the child or adolescent assume, on the semantic and also on the formal level. Special attention is dedicated to the representation of girl as a textual subject, which disposes of unique characteristics in contemporary Italian novel. Still in contemporary Italian prose, the girl protagonist has to undergo various exams and has to prove her im-maturity. The list of exams and the analysis of them conclude the essay.
