The library has an interesting history related to the Jesuit apostolate in Poland. It was created by merging the Bobolanum Theological Library and the Library of Writers. In terms of the size of book collection (333,000 volumes of books and magazines) it is one of the largest church libraries in Poland. The Bobolanum Library holds a rich collection of old prints as well as new prints, most of which published in foreign languages, mainly German, Italian and French.
