Summary/Abstract: In his study, the author analyses the contribution brought by Franz Ritter von Des Loges to Suceava's modernization. In his long period as mayor, he undertook systematic efforts towards the modernization of the town, following the western model, efforts which materialized in the appearance of a new administrative centre, the building of a gymnasium and a hospital, big investments which brought about proper utilities for an urban centre, an electric plant and a drinkable water distribution network.
