Summary/Abstract: The article deals with what is “conscience” and what problems remain in its sphere of influence. The considerations also apply to various undertakings of entities (individuals or groups of people), which have influenced the normalization of the issue. In order to clarify the ambiguities that aroused by the colloquial understanding of “conscience”, as well as to better understand the broad spectrum of the concept, its semantic fields have been distinguished. Selected norms of legal acts have also been presented and juxtaposed with acts of resistance, i.e., the conscientious objection, civil disobedience and conscience clause. The research conducted is an attempt to answer the question whether it is justified to invoke “conscience” in any situation.
