Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the history of teachers' seminars in Poland in the years 1918-1937. The establishment and development of teachers' seminars were the result of the implementation of the educational policy of the reborn Polish state. It was shaped according to the needs, while maintaining the basic goal, which was to introduce a uniform system of staff education for general education. The legal acts concerning compulsory education and training of teaching staff in the former partitions were presented. The creation of pedagogical education and its functioning took place within the framework of the educational policy of the state, subordinated to specific ideological assumptions.
