Summary/Abstract: The article answers two questions: 1) whether the Apostolic Exarchate in the Czech Republic is a church sui iuris, and 2) in what name the Exarch leads the Czech Apostolic Exarchate. Based on an analysis of the legal status of the Exarchate in the Eastern Code and the Annuario pontifi cio annual publication of the Apostolic See, the answer is that the Apostolic Exarchate in the Czech Republic is not a church sui iuris according to the criteria in canon 27 CCEO, and that the Apostolic Exarch leads the Czech Exarchate in the name of the Pope as his representative (a vicar).
