Summary/Abstract: Decision-making is choosing from possible alternatives to reach a solution to a particular problem. Multi-criteria decision-making methods are concerned with the evaluation of a number of alternatives in terms of a set of decision criteria and are proposed in the selection of possible options. These methods are developed to analyze complex problems with different alternatives and to guide decision makers. In this study, it was aimed to determine the second language choices of academicians by using multi criteria decision making methods. In the study, a decision matrix was formed by applying 21 assistant doctors who worked at Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and 21 faculties of Faculty of Education by using face-to-face survey method. 1-9 scale was used to determine the relation between the criteria and to weight the criteria. Both TOPSIS and VIKOR methods were applied for the selection of alternative languages. These methods were preferred because they are the current techniques used in sorting alternatives. The French language, which was the first in terms of both methods, was preferred by academicians as a second language. Arabic language both methods as the latest preferred language. The preferred methods on different other languages located in the ranking. The reason why French language is the most preferred language is because of the criteria of reading foreign publications.
