Summary/Abstract: In this article, based upon source research of the 17th and first half of the 18th century, as well as literature of the 20th – 21st century, the author focuses on the disputable and significant methodological concepts “musical-rhetorical figure” and musikalische Figurenlehre / Figurenlehren arising from key issues of the discourse on musical rhetoric. The author utilizes examples from Baroque works and studies from the 20th – 21th centuries, dwelling both on the authentic and modern terminology – within the context of hermeneutically interpreted approach and reconstruction trends of the theoretical knowledge of the Baroque era.
