LITERATURE AS “SOCIAL SCIENCE”

Summary/Abstract: Realistic novel and social sciences are bound together by their modern origins as well as some of their functions. A novel acts as a quasi-social science firstly due to having an identical object of interest and analysis as that of sociology or anthropology. Literary approach is a way of analyzing and interpreting the society which competes with the perspective of social sciences. Literature and social sciences also share the interest in the world of practice and values. In the literary works a reflection on meta-scientific issues is sometimes present. Literature and social sciences come to similar conclusions, although at different times.
