Summary/Abstract: The contribution deals with a definitely new aspect of the East Moravian Early History. The aim is to describe recently identified flat settlement dated to the Roman period. It is located in the cadastral municipality Vlachovice, in a location called Kaštýl – Hrbáčkovo pole. Collection of ceramic artifacts recovered surface prospection allows dating site in the course of the second century with the possible tone of the beginning of the 3rd century AD. This period is characterized by a massive settlement expansion, which culminates in the era of the Marcomanni wars. The topic is widely discussed in a regional context with a special interest in a question of the possible relations to nearby Roman Laugaricio and historical events associated with it. The author also deals with the issue of potential contacts. Dependently on it closely related issue is of the possible exploitation of the White Carpathian passes.
