Summary/Abstract: This article explores the 1912 print media in Serbia in their relation to the Balkan wars, comparing the nationalist topoi with the contemporary age and contemporarynational groups. It analyzes the content of several articles printed in paperssuch as Illustrated War Chronicle (Ilustrovana ratna kronika) and the Serbiannewspaper (Srpske novine), juxtaposing their discourse with contemporarySerbian nationalism. The primary sources from 1912 have not been discussed inscholarship, except a few mentions. It shows that after a century since the BalkanWars has passed, the nationalist discourse has remained more than similar, usingthe same historical pathos of victimhood and “othering” of the Enemy.
