Summary/Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has caused changes in many areas of human activity, including language. The health crisis has forced us to adapt and name new concepts and meet the needs of self-expression in an unprecedented situation. The new words that are presented in this work prove the creativity of Spanish, Polish, French and English speakers. The use of prefixes, such as covi- and corona-, shows an increasing tendency towards lexical internationalisation. Some of the new words which have emerged during the pandemic have already been incorporated into dictionaries and form part of the current vocabulary; however, the issue of the stability of the rest of them remains uncertain.
