In Search of the Truth of God – a New Self-Understanding of the Church

Summary/Abstract: After the great loss of credibility in her authority, the structure of the Catholic Church is in the central process of transformation. The Synodal Path in Germany is an attempt to allow others to recognize the transition from an objectivist to a communicative understanding of the truth. The process is not primarily about concrete reform proposals that are acceptable to the majority. Rather, the questions concerning both the unity of faith and the hermeneutic processes of formulating faith are in the center of attention.
