Summary/Abstract: There are cultural relations between Syria and Turkey that go back very far and remain alive until today. Accordingly, it is possible to initiate marriages between these two societies together with these cultural relations. After the events of Syria in March 2011, a large number of Syrians were forced to emigrate to Turkey and, in parallel, marriages with Syrians increased. Osmaniye is one of the places where these refugees, who have been dispersed to almost every region of Turkey and are generally referred to as Syrians, live extensively. In the Cevdetiye town in the center, there is a temporary shelter center for Syrians. Apart from this, there are Syrian families who continue their lives by renting houses in other districts, towns and villages, mainly in the city centre. The people of Osmaniye did not exclude people from Syria, but helped them in providing jobs and housing. The socio-cultural rapprochement in this context has increased marriages considerably compared to the past. Marriages with Syrians were mostly in the direction of getting girls, marriages in the direction of giving girls were very rare. Belonging to the same religion and sect, the fact that the Syrians who came were mostly Turkmen and could speak Turkish, and the fact that the families knew each other before the migration made marriages easier and more common. In the study, the relevant literature was reviewed and the data was collected from the people of Osmaniye and the Syrian refugees using observation and interview techniques. Qualitative research method was followed in the evaluation of the data.
