CÂTEVA ASPECTE PRIVIND ACTIVITATEA LUI BELTRAME COSTABILI, TUTORE AL LUI IPPOLITO D’ESTE LA CURTEA DIN ESZTERGOM
Some aspects concerning the activity of Beltrame Costabili, tutor to Ippolito d’Este at the Court of Esztergom

Summary/Abstract: The main objective of this study is to bring to the attention of historians one of the least known humanists of the court of Esztergom, Beltrame Costabili. His name was mentioned in some studies, but his activity is almost completely unknown to the Romanian and Hungarian historiographies. The studies mentioning his presence are dedicated to other important people of his time, such as the characters from the court of Ferrara, Ippolito d’Este, the primate archbishop of the Kingdom of Hungary, which he tutored, or Matthias Corvinus, the king of Hungary. As a tutor for Ippolito, Beltrame was directly responsible for the education of the archbishop, who was just a boy when he was appointed in office. He knew most of the Italian humanists from the Hungarian court and was updated with every detail related to Ippolito’s development.
