Archival Documents and the History of the Bulgarian Theater Between 1944 and 1989

Summary/Abstract: The text proceeds from fundamental questions facing historians of theatrical art. The problems arising from attempts to work on theatre history addressing the socialist era have been outlined. The most important bodies of documents essential to theater researchers of the period (as well as the approaches to their utilization) have been outlined. The text also presents Prof. Lubomir Tenev’s personal archive stored among the archives of the Institute of Art Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
