Summary/Abstract: The Turkish Cinema dating back to the Ottoman Empire is associated with Yeşilçam throughout the history of the Republic of Turkey. While the cinema got popular in Turkey in parallel with the world, social messages were tried to be delivered to the audience through the movie screen. Whereas art was tried to be conducted through cinema, it also aimed at creating a perception on the audience at the same time. While directors adapted the events in Turkey into a movie from their viewpoints in Yeşilçam, they were influenced by the political environment and social dynamics. As a result, some films were shot with the aim of conveying political messages rather than artistic concern. Considering especially the political environment of 1970s in Turkey, political conflicts and struggles influencing every segment of society were discussed in cinema. Sociological inferences can be made through motion picture films by analyzing the scenarists’ and directors’ viewpoint of social values, social life and class differences of the period. The films in which prominent young actors of Yeşilçam such as Kadir İnanır performed enabled the social and political messages to reach large mass of people. It is certain that the movies which have been watched millions of times on YouTube are still very popular. In this study, a sociological analysis of the social reality and the political messages of the year 1977 in the movie, “Blood” was carried out.
