Summary/Abstract: This article is penned by a teacher who discovers that a book his student suggested for a class reading is in fact a work of serious shortcomings in terms of style and its didactic value. This book, called „Mischiefs of Mutko the Genius“ by the awarded child author Bajruzin Hajro Planjac, is in fact sold throughout schools which is, according to the author of this text, by itself problematic. Precisely because of it, he decides to immerse himself in the content and form of this short novel, supported by the institution (school) as well as academic authorities (in reviews). In the process, he discovers a number of weaknesses such as mannerism and imitation, intrusive pedagogy, lack of understanding for the needs and possibilities of the young reader. The text does not forget to point out that the book is recommended by the eminent academic professors of literature, which raises a whole set of serious questions.
