Summary/Abstract: Romania's participation in the Great War is an important page in our national history, which resulted in the fulfillment of state unity. The completion of a century since the onset of the global conflagration brought to the attention of the researchers unique documents related to this event and thus enriched the Romanian historiography. The present article fits in the completion to the war’s cultural history. Representative of the minor memoirs, Dumitru Constantin presents us this conflict from the perspective of the common man, of the soldier sent in the line of fire, but who became aware of the fact that the duty of a soldier is above all else.
