Summary/Abstract: The article aims to reveal the complex relationship between the two world superpowers. After Donald Trump entered the White House, there was a period of sharp deterioration of US–China relations. There was a radical change in American foreign policy – the strategic adversary changed. The Obama administration had seen Russia as its main foreign policy adversary. The Trump administration reassessed the situation and recognized China as the world’s leading power capable of challenging American global power. As a result of this shift, a number of global changes have taken place that will have a lasting impact on international architecture and global security.
