Summary/Abstract: The article presents reflections regarding the functioning of the so-called perfective or telic verbs in French. These notions which in the Indo-European languages are especially relevant in the Slavic languages can be applied to the Romance languages and in particular to the French language. The study analyses the interactions between the functioning of the verbal aspect at the level of morphology and its expression at the level of semantics. First, the author intended to present how the unaccomplished / accomplished opposition characterized by the presence of the auxiliary to the compound forms allows defining the verbal aspect. Next, the author studies the ‘intra-semantic’ aspect with an approach which is based both on the concept of telicity and on the theoretical principles of the psychomechanics of language of Gustave Guillaume. In the last part, he examines the interactions with these two aspect expressions by highlighting the specificities of the effects of meaning produced.
