Summary/Abstract: The morphological-comparative method of anthropological analysis was applied by the author to the examination of skeletal remains of a few hundred individuals from the medieval cemetery in Naqlun compared to results of Michalski’s 1964 study concerning the anthropological structure of modern Egyptians. The modern population of Fayum appears to reflect the ancient structure much better than the medieval population from Cemetery A in Naqlun. Moreover, there seems to be an evident decrease in racial diversity from antiquity to modern times, but the Naqlun skulls break out from this order.
