Summary/Abstract: The report compares the procedures for providing legal aid under Bulgarian law through an official defender and a special representative for the protection of civil subjective rights. Proposals for their improvement are argued in terms of EU standards, quality and delivery time, as well as in terms of more efficient spending of funds from the state budget, and the corresponding proposals “de lege ferenda” are formulated.
