Summary/Abstract: The paper groups government expenditures for final consumption into productive and non-productive using the functional classification – COFOG. Based on this, the dynamics of productive and non-productive government expenditures in six EU Member States of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) for the period 2000-2019 is studied. In addition to the own dynamics of the two expenditure groups, their relative importance in GDP and total government consumption, as well as their contributions to the rate of change in real GDP, is analyzed.
