Summary/Abstract: The third study in this periodical about Matěj Procházka (1811 – 1889) and his legacy deals with the author’s apologetic work in a broad sense. In his numerous treatises, this priest and catechist responded to the realities of the changing society and to the challenges of the materialistic worldview and scientific research of the second half of the 19th century. Concretely, we will pay attention to his presentation of the Catholic Church and her relationship to other churches, the State and the society. Then we focus on two fields of knowledge and life in which, in our opinion, our author bequeathed a remarkable legacy. These are his dialogue with the natural sciences and his work on the labour question.
