Summary/Abstract: The study looks at translations of the ’picturebooks’ written by Éva Janikovszky. The author finds it of great importance to have an analysis of this kind of these books which have achieved world fame, since no one has attempted yet to examine her books published in foreign languages, that is, the translations of the Janikovszky texts. In this paper the author compares the source text of the book Velem mindig történik valami (Something’s always happening to me) with its English, Croation and German versions, focusing especially on the „hungaricums”, i.e. on how specific, peculiar Hungarian expressions and proper names are rendered into these target languages.
