Summary/Abstract: The goal of this article is to bring a discussion on the new tendencies in art - the practice of social interaction in contemporary art, and to bring the term “social practice” in the local discourse as a ‘new’ form of art. The artistic engagement in the social and political context is not new, but from the 90’s it’s been noticeable how many artist are creating works in collaboration with communities and institutions based on participation and cooperation. Many of these works are being referred as public, new-genre art, relational and lately as social practice, where the social relations and interactions are considered as art, without the goal of creating a final visual product in the form of traditional representation. Through few social participative artworks this article gives an introduction to the understanding how and why these tendencies are considered as art and the impact and influence they can have in humanizing and democratizing our society on micro/macro level.
