Summary/Abstract: The subject of this publication is two coins of the roman city of Deultum, one of the most important centres at the Black sea during the Roman epoch. The presented coins bear the images of Perseus and Andromeda on the reverse. The coins - one of Alexander Severus (222 - 235) and one of Philipus Arab (244 - 249) are published for the first time. The composition of Perseus and Andromeda is unknown in the coinage of other provincial cities in Thrace, as well in the central coinage of Rome. The reverses of the coins reproduce the famous picture .Perseus and Andromeda. of the Greek artist Nikias (4th c. B.C.), who is known only from the Roman copies.
