A journey to communist Albania. On the regime and the individual in the works of Albanian-Italian authors

Summary/Abstract: The article aims to explore the reality of communist Albania, especially in relation to the restrictions with which the regime affected the life on an individual. The argument concerns the novels of Albanian-Italian authors and is divided into two parts. The first section of the essay depicts the relation between Albanian-Italian authors and the field of sociology of literature, while the second one focuses on the general image of Albanian reality. The image is a very negative one, the dictatorship brings about injustice, falsehood and cruelty. The communists lose touch with reality and they immerse in utopian ideas, thus sentencing themselves and others to an existential defeat.
