Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to analyse the degree of harmonization of the foreign and defence policies of the six Western Balkan countries with the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU, with a focus on the domain of the Common Security and Defence Policy. The intention of the authors is to show what the EU expects from the countries of the Western Balkans in the field of foreign and defence policy, how the countries of the region meet this part of the criteria in political and practical terms, and to identify factors and actors influencing the degree of harmonization. A comparative overview of the state of alignment of the Western Balkans with the Union with respect to the EU Common Security and Defence Policy is based on the data and assessments presented in the Progress Reports recorded and produced by the European Commission.
