Summary/Abstract: Death is always scandalous, and this image of it passes through various cultural notions, both in Eastern and Western Europe. Depending on the perception of God or Gods, this taboo is more or less silenced. In this sense, obituaries and death notices are an evolutionary growth of the consciousness of society as a phenomenon of talking about death. This genre has developed and imposed in the Bulgarian cultural space since the mid-1850s, which in a way marks the maturity of the Bulgarian revivals and modernizes the image of the Bulgarian Renaissance.
