Punctuation as Metalanguage

Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the punctuation mark from the point of view of the cognitive approach. The philosophical explanations of the sign during and in the nomenclature of the sentence according to its definitive features are sought. In addition, the role of the punctuation mark in the qualification of the syntactic position of one or another word in the composition and structure of the sentence is presented. That is, the punctuation is relevant whether a part of the sentence is distinct or not; homogeneous or inhomogeneous are parts of the sentence; separate or inserted parts, etc.
