Summary/Abstract: This article offers an overview of the testimonial poetry that was composed in formal clandestine detention centers during the last Argentine dictatorship. We decided to study poems by Ana Maria Ponce, which she wrote while kept at the School of Marine Mechanics (ESMA), because they are the only ones to ever have come out of this place–therefore they contain a unique perspective on this part of history and on the feelings of a kidnapped and sequestered individual. Consequently, we will analyze the testimonial and prophetic dimensions of her poetry: testimonial as it constitutes the author’s poetic imprint, as well as the place’s and historical context’s, and prophetic as she anticipates certain details of the fight led by human rights and crime against humanity organizations and their consequences on society.
