Summary/Abstract: This paper introduces the meaning of Bulgarian idioms with „man“ and „woman“ components which are combined by the common meaning husband who is being commanded at home and this meaning is expressed through different forms in the particular idiom units. The analysis is concentrated on the interpretation of their meaning by Bessarabian Bulgarians located in the territory of today’s Ukraine.
