Summary/Abstract: Cognitive linguistics argues that the key difference between metaphor and metonymy is that metaphor realizes in two domains, and metonymy in only one. This paper analyzes the notion of domains in cognitive linguistics, it also analyzes the examples of metonymy, and comes to a conclusion that metonymy realizes in two domains, similar to metaphor, and emphasizes that the connection between the source and the target notion is crucial for identifying metonymy.
