Summary/Abstract: Dumitru Ţepeneag was born in Bucharest, but taking an attitude against the communist regime, in 1975, his Romanian citizenship is withdrawn and he moves to Paris. He is the theoretician of the Romanian onirism, in his sketches the dreamy elements are really well followed. He begins with the volume of sketches entitled Exercises. In this volume, he approaches the description of two kinds of exteriors, those appearing as favorable, pleasant and clear exteriors which are in contrast with the repulsive, sinister and unpleasant ones. At the same time there are also described the interiors, in which the order can be felt in the family atmosphere and the disorder in the solitude. Dumitru Ţepeneag also emphasizes the characters, whether members of the family, mother, father, sister, or friends. From this description of the characters a shift is made towards dreamy elements. The shift from real to unreal is done smoothly, either through dreams or memories, appearing in the same time the daily item.
