Summary/Abstract: The article summarizes the important role of agriculture in the socio-economic life of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The process of creating a legal basis for reform and land reform in Nakhchivan, the cradle of agrarian reform, was analyzed. The strategic goal of the reform is the transition to a market economy. The economic effectiveness of the reforms was assessed, and the experience of the autonomous republic, which gave the "green light" to agrarian change in the country, was studied. The socio-political environment created under the leadership of national leader Heydar Aliyev to continue the reforms launched in Nakhchivan on a national scale was assessed. With the return of the national leader to power at the request of the people, the policy of socio-economic development of Azerbaijan, as well as Nakhchivan, ensuring food security has entered a new stage. The legal framework of the land reform, which began in 1996, covering more than 40 decrees and legal normative acts, has been established in the country. Privatization of lands and property of former collective and state farms in Nakhchivan has been studied in the context of large-scale measures in the republic. In this article, it is clear that food security can be achieved only through sustainable agricultural production and monitoring the dynamics of agrarian reform.
