THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SUSTAINABLE GROWTH AND SHARE VALUE: IMPLEMENTATION IN THE ENERGY SECTOR

Summary/Abstract: Sustainable growth is one of the current issues of every period and there has been an increasing interest in Sustainability recently. Many investors, practitioners and academics are interested in knowing the factors involved in influencing stock value and Firm growth has long been cited as one of the most important elements in creating shareholder value. Growth is often one of the key drivers of equity value. The sustainable growth rate (SBO) is important for assessing the shortcomings of company growth and captures a company's probability of creating value. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine the relationship between sustainable growth and stock value. For this purpose, 2017-2020 data of 5 companies operating in Turkey's energy sector were obtained. In order to calculate the sustainable growth rate, we examined the sustainable growth rate calculation models and calculated the SBO. Our calculation results were compared by obtaining stock values. We analyzed our sustainable growth rate and stock value data using the SPSS Pearson Correlation. According to the results we obtained, all companies showed a relationship between sustainable growth rate and stock value. In our research, 4 companies showed a positive correlation. Only 1 of the 5 companies included in our research showed a negative correlation.
