Summary/Abstract: The question of spirit of Carnival in Renaissance literature is multiple clarified. However, the links between Renaissance literary works and ethics of Fools–for–Christ’s sake in perspectives of carnivalization of life and culture are not highlighted enough. Therefore, we ha ve selected two representative writers of the Renaissance: Erasmus and Mavro Vetranović as a paradigm of a subtle feeling of the world, which many times find its mirroring in the theology of the Fool–for–Christ’s sake. Although the sanctity and insanity are differ in the field of semantics, the core – described by grotesque laughter – is indivisible and merits the attention of researchers.
