Summary/Abstract: The paper submits a concise overview of certain stylistic devices which frequently appear in the biblical text. Here are mentioned parallelism, epithet, metaphor, metonymy, synecdoche, allegory and euphemism. The aim of the overview is to illustrate the usage of these fixed and frequent figures of speech through examples, as well as to bring out their effect in reception of the text.
