Summary/Abstract: The following study describes how the only Hungarian language daily newspaper Új Szó portrays the mistakes of the Slovak government’s communication. The research is based on Mazzoleni’s definition of political communication as an exchange and confrontation of political contents between the political system, media and citizens/voters. In the following research journalistic articles will be analysed, furthermore the author highlights the issue of journalistic and editorial subjectivity. The study describes the expected attributes of public rhetoric during crisis, distinguishes the three functions of the prime minister’s communication. After a short quantitative analysis the author points out the three main areas criticised by journalists, such as the prime minister’s communication behaviour, his communication tools and vocabulary.
