Summary/Abstract: The pandemic is an undoubted crisis for mankind. A crisis does not necessarily have solely negative connotations. A crisis can be taken as an opportunity to shift to a better world. Everywhere where evil dominates good, falsehood dominates truth, and indifference or hate dominate love and charity, we encounter a crisis of human existence. Thinking in terms of values nested in the natural law can become not only an antidote for the economic and health crisis, but also the beginning of a new ethos. An ethos, which may be poorer in material goods, but richer in humanity. The pandemic crisis demands a reminder and an update of the paradigm that a society to be actually human needs truth as its foundation, freedom as its atmosphere, justice as its rule and social love that sees the affairs of others as its own. The experience of the pandemic alongside the inevitable economic recession can become a starting point for ethical progress in the direction of building deep spiritual community on all societal plains.
